H20 Esports Campus Amsterdam and Fangage join forces on music and esports in new partnership

H20 Esports Campus Amsterdam has started a partnership with Fangage, the multimedia content platform for influencers and companies to better connect with their fans. Providing and protecting exclusive content is the basis of the partnership.

Top sport and top music join forces. H20 Esports Campus founders Dirk Tuip and Matthijs Vink spent years going around the world in top-class handball and the world-famous Dutch DJ Sam Feldt did the same when it came to music. Now is the time for these two disciplines to come together!

H20 will work with Fangage to create more engagement in the esports, gaming and influencer community so that fans get an even better and more valuable experience.

In Fangage, fans of a company or brand, in this case H20 Esports Campus, pay for exclusive content with their own data. People can get access to certain content by building up their fan score. They can do this by linking their data to the H20 page on Fangage. The consumers get exclusive content and we as H20 can connect with our 'fans' in a better way.

H20 Esports Campus has been using the premium version of Fangage, called Legend Fangage, for quite some time now. At H20, we use the capabilities of the Fangage platform to provide specific memberships for gamers and other interested parties who want to use our services.

Members can sign up for various modules including Rocket League, Minecraft, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, game streaming and many more via our own H20 page on Fangage. By using Fangage we can deliver exclusive content to the members who have signed up for a module. For example, the FIFA players get the latest tricks explained in a video by the FIFA trainers from the H20 Esports Campus.

H20 has been working closely with the Fangage team for some time now. We provide feedback during the creation of the platform and the enthusiastic Fangage team takes every opportunity to improve their product.

According to Matthijs Vink of H20 Esports Campus Amsterdam, the cooperation with Fangage provides many new opportunities in the field of targeted content and customer contact. "Also, there is now a great place to share all the exclusive content, there is so much content available and Fangage helps H20 Esports Campus a lot to make that happen. We look forward to a great partnership for our esports fans!"

Sam Feldt, the famous Dutch DJ and founder of Fangage, is excited about the collaboration with H20 Esports Campus. "With this exclusive partnership, Fangage is able to serve the booming esports market even better. Together with H20 we will work on the ultimate platform for fan engagement & monetization in the esports world, reaching a huge amount of teams, players and tournaments through the extensive network of both of us."

Launch event

Sign up now for an exclusive opening event at H20.gg/Fangage. In this event, Dutch esports players, gamers and influencers will come together to celebrate the launch of our partnership. You will also be able to participate in presentations about engaging and monetising your fan base, creating a story and immediately receive an offer to use the H20 Fangage software for free for six months. All this at H20, while enjoying delicious food and a good drink and as a closing act Sam Feldt will give a smashing DJ performance on the mainstage of the Rabo Esports Stadium.

A maximum of 100 people will be admitted to this event.

Tribe Sports and H20 develop the H20 Esports camps for young people

H20 Esports Campus Amsterdam announces that Tribe Sports and H20 are joining forces and are jointly launching the H20 Esports Camps. The coming summer, autumn and Christmas holidays, Esports Camps will be organised for several weeks in which esports, active sports and exercise and creative tech are central. The H20 Esportcamps are organised for youth between eight and fifteen years old.
The H20 Esports Camps bring gaming to life by combining indoor and outdoor activities at a unique location. At the largest high-tech location of Europe: the H20 Esports & gaming Campus Amsterdam, children go on a mission together for five days and develop through a unique training and entertainment programme. They will work together with their peers both online and offline, be involved in sports indoors and outdoors, and work on a joint assignment. In addition, they receive training from true Esports experts and coaches, are introduced to different themes and meet cool influencers.
"Last year Tribe Sports and H20 worked hard to develop the H20 Esports Camps. The H20 Esports Campus continues to develop and innovate continuously from a broad vision on Esports. We also want to be game changers in the field of youth camps and be able to give all facets of modern Esports a place. In Tribe Sports we have found a partner with whom we can offer these camps to the youth at Champions League level. From day one there was a click and a shared vision which we have now brought together beautifully. These will undoubtedly be the coolest Esports camps in the country," said Matthijs Vink, co-founder and CCO of H20.
"We are proud of this collaboration and the new concept of the H20 Esports Camps that we have developed together. We have been working on the KNVB football camps for over six years and know like no other how to offer this target group the week of their lives by combining fun, learning and a solid pedagogical basis.
By collaborating with H20, we are taking the next step in broadening our field of activity beyond football. Our expertise in the field of sports and entertainment perfectly complements H20's complete knowledge of the world of Esports. Together we will create the best that the Netherlands has to offer in this area! said Koen Mühlradt, Director Tribe Sports.

Hospitality entrepreneur Danny van Noorden sees opportunities in esports

H20 Esports has closed a cooperation with catering entrepreneur Danny van Noorden from Volendam. Danny is (co-)owner of several cafe/restaurants and event agency Dagje Volendam, and will take on the hospitality of H20. In phase 1 this means the opening and running of the H20 Esports Lounge, and in phase 2 a coffee bar and space for lunch.

Danny van Noorden and Dirk Tuip together at Gamescom in Cologne 2019

Why H20 Esports

Danny van Noorden is an entrepreneur who does not sit still. He has a passion for the hospitality industry and also has a background in IT.
"When Dirk Tuip told me about his H20 concept, it started to tickle. When he said that he was looking for someone to run the catering business, all the pieces of the puzzle fell into place. H20 is on course to become a very large event centre, and to contribute to the concept is a very nice and interesting challenge."

Guido Sombroek

After a small search, Danny ended up with Guido Sombroek, one of his employees at De Dijk restaurant in Volendam. He had just finished his HBO degree in Business Economics and was looking for work.
Guido Sombroek: "During the two work placement periods, I came to the conclusion that I was not someone who could sit behind a screen for 40 hours a week. I do get a lot of pleasure from working in the hospitality industry. I have been working for Danny in De Dijk for years. This has created a bond of trust, and so he asked me to take on this project in Purmerend together. It is an enormous challenge, but we are determined to make a positive contribution to H20 together with everyone else involved".

The refurbishment of the Esports Lounge started last week

Rebuilding Esports Bar & Lounge

"The renovation of the lounge is currently underway. The Esports Lounge will be a place of and for everyone. For example, children's parties will be held here while they watch Esports, employees can kick off the weekend here while enjoying a "0.0", and during events there will be a view of the stage here. There have already been a few groups requesting catering. It is now a matter of learning a lot."

Future

"This is something very different from what we are currently used to. Technology will play a major role within the campus, and the hospitality industry will have to take advantage of this. Ultimately, the whole thing will be a bustling affair in which the hospitality industry can play a crucial role. It is up to us to respond to this through the right channels".

Honours Program Business Challenge HvA 2020 launched at H20 esports

Honours Programme Business Challenge Monday 27 January, the Honours Programme Business Challenge of the Amsterdam University started at H20. H20 welcomes 20 3rd and 4th year students of the HvA who participate in the biennial Business Challenge. On the H20 campus, they will be working on an issue concerning sports versus esports. The Challenge lasts a week and is comparable to a hackathon. The cases will be presented on Friday.
Various coaches and guest speakers from the world of gaming and esports will make their appearance in the programme. The students will spend a large part of the week at H20 experiencing esports with the aim of discovering how gaming and sports can strengthen each other. In addition, they try to find a way to approach the right target groups. The programme serves to find an answer to the big question:
How can we make sports and exercise more attractive by translating gaming and esports into sports and exercise and/or how can we make the current sports and exercise offer more attractive by enriching it with esports/gaming?

Honours Programme

The students are divided into 5 teams of 4. Heads will be put together to solve these Business challenges. H20 esports has been chosen as the location to learn as much as possible about esports and the gaming industry. Mainly because of the large-scale approach in the field of esports, Gaming and Tech.
Dirk Tuip, CEO of H20: 'We see many similarities between sports and esports and are excited about the possibilities of virtual reality and gamification for top sports and recreational sports. It is therefore great that the focus is on this during these five days.'

H20 welcomes Sjaak Kuil as General Esports Manager

H20 Esports Manager Sjaak Kuil
"We are extremely happy and proud to announce that Sjaak Kuil is joining H20," said Dirk Tuip. "At H20 we are taking a step further every day towards our goal: To become the coolest esports venue in all of Europe! The past few months we received about 80 applications for the various jobs. Several interviews with different candidates were the result. With Sjaak we think to have found 'the right man for the job'. With pleasure we therefore introduce him.
That Sjaak is someone with ambition and passion soon becomes apparent when you start talking to him. He has loved his hobby for many years and, like many on the H20 campus, has made it his job. Sjaak also has the necessary experience and knowledge to make the H20 dream come true. This becomes quickly clear when you look at his years of experience within esports. To name a few experiences:

  • Building Esportswall (an esports platform), which within a few months grew into a platform with thousands of users playing daily.
  • Starting The City League (TCL), an online league based on physical esports locations, such as H20 in Purmerend. Esports venues across Europe joined up, allowing teams to play physically on location, but play online against other venues. This way we had matches like the Antwerp Lions VS Reload Prague, or Milan Titans VS SP Thessaloniki. This concept was very much focused on traditional sports, with matches taking place once a week. All matches were broadcast live and provided a live link between all esports venues in Europe.
  • The WESG Benelux qualifier is organised with a prize pool of $10,000.
  • Festival Director, at Blammo Media, known from Gamekings and the Firstlook Festival. The latest edition of the biggest gaming festival of the Benelux was organised by Sjaak.

It was not a difficult choice for H20 to hire Sjaak as esports manager. Our team welcomes Sjaak to the team! Together we are going to have a phenomenal opening!

How did H20 come your way?

"After the projects Firstlook Festival and DreamHack Rotterdam 2019, I started looking for the next assignment. With the idea in the back of my mind that I wanted to stay active in esports and not let go of production yet, I ended up with a select group in the Netherlands and some international challenges. I knew the idea of H20, but I was still sceptical about the size of the project. At the next meeting, I saw everything come to life and it all really happened. An esports stadium in the Netherlands! The chance to be there and experience everything from so close is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Because of a good click with Matthijs Vink and Dirk Tuip, founders of H20, it all went pretty fast and as of January 2020 I am working as General Manager of H20 esports BV!". - Sjaak Kuil.

H20 is slowly becoming the place to go for anyone who wants something to do with gaming. Esports, Game Design or Application Development will be the focus, but also the latest technology. We asked Sjaak why he chose H20 and how he sees the future.
Sjaak kuil Esports Manager
I wish we had something like that when I was a student!" - Sjaak Kuil

Why did you choose H20?

"I chose H20 because this concept has a lot going for it in different areas, with a central focus on youth around the age of 20 (H20 stands for 'age twenty', among other things). There will be something for everyone, from the latest competitions in VR gaming to Minecraft children's parties. Because what we are going to do is quite broad, this attracts my interest. All aspects are interrelated and ultimately scream out one central topic: esports! We are going to work hard, with the help of H20, to make students excited about the future and help them make the right choice for their career. I wish we had something like that when I was a student!"

How do you see the future of H20?

"Personally, I would love to see the esports club structured like a traditional football club. We then look very much at the structure of football, such as training once a week and a match at the weekend. Plus the division of juniors and seniors with coaches, trainers, etc. I tried this concept before under the name The City League. We organised the competition between gaming centres throughout Europe. Now we have the opportunity to set up our own gaming centre and I think it would be great to work on the future structure of esports. The top talents are mainly scouted at local esports clubs, like H20. Next to the gaming club I am most looking forward to the Rabo Esports Stadium and the VR area, both are unique in the Netherlands and will provide the ultimate experience for the visitors".

The next five years at H20

"In the next five years, I hope firstly that we can compete as a stadium with the fast-growing international esports market, creating a well-filled agenda with unique events. Secondly, I hope we can bring structure to the general esports landscape, especially looking at traditional sports. The esports club should run lively with perhaps a national league. Finally, I hope we can keep up with all the rapid innovations in VR, AR, gaming and robots. These technologies are being developed at a rapid pace and at H20 we need to keep up. All aspects of H20 must be rotated and structured. Perhaps then we can think about opening more locations like this in the Netherlands, or Belgium, or elsewhere in Europe?! "

"I am very much looking forward to taking up the adventure at H20, to establish Partnerships and manage events from large to small!" - Sjaak Kuil, Esports Manager H20.

The Twaanlab clubs have moved to H20.

TwaanLab is the breeding ground for digital technical thinkers, creatives, makers and wizzkids. Schools and boards are increasingly recognising the importance of modern techniques such as programming, robotics and 3D printing in education. Yet many schools continue to struggle in their search for an implementation of modern technology in education. The TwaanLab helps and guides schools in their search for an appropriate implementation of modern technology in the classroom.

The TwaanLab wants to give all young people in the Netherlands the opportunity to develop themselves in technical and creative fields and, in doing so, give them an insight into the work fields of the future. Currently, there is a large gap between the future fields of work and education; there is little or no incentive to promote 'digital crafts' in education and beyond.

In the TwaanLab, young people learn to work with (the latest) digital techniques such as programming, digital design, 3D printing and online TV-making. Young people who join the TwaanLab: Code Club, Art Tribe or YouTube Squad work and train weekly with other programmers, creative people or online TV makers on their digital talents. With the move to H20, a big step has been taken. In this way, H20 becomes the breeding ground for young talent and Twaanlab surrounds itself with our target group. Young talents, programmers, gamers, streamers, are all located on and around the H20 campus.

Toine Rohner, Twaanlab:
"We are extremely excited about our expansion to H20. After several successful years in Purmerend Library, the TwaanLab has grown enormously. From giving small programming workshops and courses, we now have three different clubs and we give lots of lessons in secondary education in Purmerend. With our move to H20, we want to take our first steps outside the region and hopefully soon much further. We are busy developing our own e-learn platform. In this way, we want to bring the whole of the Netherlands into contact with the unique TwaanLab vision and teaching methods. For us, H20 immediately brings the synergy we were looking for, a partner who supports our mission, the contact with the business community and the educational facilities that are so lacking everywhere."
